Everyday, new service type robot shows up and this one as the future Fire Fighter Robot.
"The aluminium robot named Ash (Autonomous Shipboard Humanoid), sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, will serve to tackle flames in thick smoke.
Ash has the ability to climb stairs and access narrow passageways as well as respond to human gesture. It will be programmed to know how to move around a particular warship.
Brian Lattimer, a researcher at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia says the robot will be equipped with infrared cameras that allow it to see through smoke and in areas with low visibility." (2012, Telegraph.co.uk)
